Coming off their 17-14 victory over Wake Forest last week, to earn a bowl birth, members of the Boston College Eagles have received awards for their performance in the season finale and throughout the year.
Junior defensive lineman Harold Landry earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his seven tackles, 4.5 for loss, and three sacks against the Demon Deacons. The honors didn’t stop there for the North Carolina native. He was named to the ASCMA All-ACC second team. He also won the Golden Helmet Award. This award is given annually to New England’s top player by the New England Football Writers Association, for his excellent play throughout the year. Landry is tied for first nationally with 15 sacks, and first leads the nation with seven forced fumbles. His 20.5 tackles for loss rank fourth. Only Mathias Kiwanuka, who had 25.5 in 2004, has accumulated more in Boston College history.
Junior linebacker Connor Strachan was named to the All-New England team and was listed on the All-ACC honorable mention. He led the Eagles with 70 tackles. And was second in the nation with four fumbles recoveries.
Senior Matt Milano was also mentioned, for the second consecutive year, on the All-ACC honor roll. He had 55 tackles, 9.5 for loss, five sacks and an interception for a touchdown in his final season at the Heights.
Landry, Strachan, Milano and the rest of the Eagles will be awaiting more good news this weekend when their bowl destination is released on Sunday December, 4th.
