Brazil vs. Chile
What a thrilling way to start off the round of 16, a penalty shootout to decide who advances to the quarterfinals.
Both teams scored fairly early in the game, but neither would break away after 55 minutes and 30 extra minutes of time. During the shootout, as Chile’s Mauricio Pinilla, Alexis Sanchez and Jara all missed their PKs, as did Brazil’s Willian and Hulk. Brazil would get PK goals from David Luiz, Marcelo and Neymar to prevail. Charles Aranguiz and Marcleo Diaz were the only Chileans to beat Julio Cesar. Cesar plays for MLS club Toronto FC and was the game’s “Man of the Match”.
