(Tallahassee, FL.) – Advancing to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Softball Championship for the fifth season in a row, No. 4 Florida State (54-6-1) welcomes No. 18 LSU (45-19) to Tallahassee for the best two out of three series at JoAnne Graf Field on May 26-28. It is the third time in the last four seasons that FSU has been a Super Regional host.
The series will start at 5:00 p.m. on Friday live on ESPNU, with game two airing on ESPN at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. If a third game is necessary, it will happen at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
“This is the fun part of the season,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “We’ve put in the work throughout the fall and during the regular season so that we can just come out and play and enjoy the postseason one game, one pitch at a time. LSU is a tough club and this weekend will be a battle. It will be a lot of fun to compete in front of our great fans and we look forward to the challenge.”
The Noles trail the Tigers, 3-2, in the all-time series with LSU, dating back to 1998. It will be the third game in the matchup played in Tallahassee, with LSU winning the most recent game, 5-4 on April 3, 2013. Both Florida State and LSU were NCAA Semifinalists in 2016, each falling to Auburn and Oklahoma who played in the WCWS Championship Series.
FSU is 28-0 at home this season and has won each of its last 35 games at home, dating back to May 7, 2016. The Seminoles have scored 145 runs with two outs this season, which is more than 26 other teams in the country have scored all year. It also surpasses the 110 runs allowed by the Seminole pitching staff and defense in 2017.
