(Louisville, KY) Louisville City FC (9-3-5) faces off against the New York Red Bulls II (7-11-3) in front of a hot home crowd Saturday evening. Currently sitting in 3rd in the USL standings right behind Charleston Battery and Charlotte Independence, needing 3 points to close the gap on Charleston Louisville look to walk away with 3 points against New York in this match up.
Louisville City and New York came out starting strong both just missing some opportunities to score and strike first. New York picked up 2 Yellow cards before Louisville City Struck first at the 39th minute with defender Paco Craig getting a header to find the back of the net setting Louisville City having a 1-0 lead that led them into the half.
After the half, it seemed that New York was on a mission to tie the game up and keep Louisville City from 3 points. New York finally got on the board in the 58th minute forward Stefano Bonomo striking from outside the box hitting the right corner. This goal took some of the breath out of a 10,000-strong fan base. Louisville City did not hang their heads and neither did forward Luke Spencer as he subbed in for forward Cameron Lancaster in the 70th minute. Lancaster wasted no time as he scored with a header in the 70th minute to give Louisville City a 2-1 lead and the game. Louisville City hung on with New York and earned 3 points.
