UCF played well in the first minutes of the game, but Davidson would soon find their rhythm behind Jack Gibbs impressive scoring. Late in the half, after a Knights comeback with a Shaheed Davis 3 pointer, the Wildcats sparked a run that put them up 43-32. UCF would trail 45-38 at the half.
The Knights would come into the second half looking to start a comeback, after an Adonys Henriquez jumper to put the Knights behind 5 points. The Knights would seem to show signs of a lead, but Davidson’s three point shooting would lead the Wildcats to victory.
“They were shooting very well and when a team is shooting the basketball that well it makes it hard,” said UCF Head Coach Donnie Jones. Give Davidson some credit, they played well tonight. That’s why we schedule them, we knew it would be a great test for our young team early on…”
The Wildcats would make 13 3-pointers on the night to UCF’s 4. UCF scoring threat and AAC Rookie Of The Week B.J. Taylor went down with what seemed to be an ankle injury in the first half and would not return in the second.
The Knights (3-1) will play the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman(2-4) this Sunday at CFE Federal Credit Union Arena. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m.
