ORLANDO – September 23, 2014 – Orlando City Soccer Club announced it has selected the Club’s 2015 Fan Advisory Council (F.A.C.), representing a comprehensive cross-section of Orlando City’s fan base.
In addition, City announced that F.A.C. member and fan Ha’Ani Hogan was randomly selected from the F.A.C. to attend the MLS Expansion Priority Drafton Wednesday, September 24 in New York City. She will join Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins, Head Coach Adrian Heath and General Manger Paul McDonough as part of the event’s official proceedings.
“We are thrilled to have selected the members of the Fan Advisory Council and look forward to their future contributions to our Club and the overall fan experience at our matches next year,” said Rawlins. “We had an overwhelming response to our request for participants and we are very grateful to all who applied. Lastly, we are very honored to have Ha’Ani join us in New York City for our Priority Draft event. This will be another memorable moment for the MLS’ 21st Club.”
Comprised with some of City’s most avid supporters, the F.A.C. will be tasked with providing instrumental feedback and input on a variety of topics, ensuring the best possible fan experience throughout the 2015 season.
The formation of the Fan Advisory Council was originally announced in July, allowing fans aged 18 years or older the opportunity to apply for a position. After an extensive screening process involving both phone and in-person interviews, 13 dedicated season ticket members were selected from a group of approximately 300 qualified candidates. Two additional positions are being reserved, each for a representative of (i) Orlando City’s Recognized Supporter Groups (pending the outcome of upcoming elections) and (ii) fans with a physical disability who attend City matches. These appointments will be announced in the future.
The members of the F.A.C. represent a wide variety of fan demographics, ranging in age from the early 20’s to 60’s, and from all walks of life including young professionals, families with children, mature fans with strong sports backgrounds, community activists, and of course, soccer enthusiasts. The members also represent each seating section, providing a well-rounded perspective for all fans who attend Orlando City matches.
More information will be available following the first F.A.C meeting, which will take place later this year. Each F.A.C. member will serve a one-year term.
