During the first half of the game, we saw a new Orlando City, with a more offensive and associative game. The first goal came early in the 5th minute of the match after a great series of passes by Kevin Molino and Winter, who were going in to assist Larin to score his 8th goal of the season. It would be Molino picking up the assist on the goal from Larin.
Orlando had opportunities to double their lead in the first half, but an excellent performance by Toronto FC's goalkeeper, Clint Irwin, would not allow it, and the Lions went into the locker room up 1-0.
At the beginning of the second half, Toronto FC was able to level the score with a goal by Jordan Hamilton, giving Orlando the same feeling of a draw like the three last games were they got 3 draws. However, in the 69th minute of the match, Toronto FC lost their goalkeeper Clint Irwin due to an injury and Alex Bono came into the match as his replacement.
This change helped Orlando gain more confidence and in the 83rd minute of the game, Kevin Molino took advantage of a loose ball by Bono to assist Adrian Winter, who scored to give Orlando the lead back at 2-1.
A few minutes later the feeling of disappointment came back with a late goal by Justin Morrow was going to give the quick draw to Toronto.
However, as we entered the 8th minute of extra time, Orlando was awarded a penalty kick as Julio Baptista was pulled down inside the box. Kaka took the PK and hit it off the bottom of the crossbar, and the ball hit the ground across the line and into the net to give the victory to the Lions.
After the game, Ricardo Kaka addressed the importance of the victory and the new position on the Eastern Division table, " I think this the position that the team needs to be, we want to go far into the tournament and give our best".
