The Lions started strong with a great opportunity in the 6th minute of the game, a header by Orlando City SC’s top scorer, Cyle Larin, went to the post and later was saved by New York’s goalkeeper, Josh Saunders.
In the 42nd minute of the first, a corner delivered by Andrea Pirlo was going to find RJ Allen, who was going to cross the ball again finding Frederic Brillant, who’s header gavethe lead to New York City FC before the halftime.
During the second half, Orlando’s coach, Adrian Heath, gave the opportunity to Julio Baptista to come into the game substituting Adrian Winter, making Kevin Molino to go the right wing while Julio Baptista was going to play as a attacking midfielder.
In the 66th minute of the game, New York City FC’s top scorer, David Villa scored his 9th goal of the season with an incredible chip shot over Joe Bendik, giving New York City FC a two-goal lead.
In the 69th minutes David Villa could have scored the third goal for New York after a penalty was given to NYC following a handball by Seb Hines, inside the penalty box. Unfortunately for New York, Villa slipped and missed the penalty.
In the 72th minute of the game Orlando came back with a goal by Julio Baptista, his first goal for Orlando City SC, after a pass by Kevin Molino, Baptista put the ball on the net after an amazing clinical finish.
During the 94th minute of the game, Orlando kept pushing forward and it was again Kevin Molino, who scored to save the Lions a point with a header in the added time at Yankee Stadium. After being 2-0 down Orlando was able to comeback to save a point thanks to two goals by Julio Baptista and Kevin Molino to make the final score 2-2.
The draw between Orlando and New York gives a point to both teams. Orlando City SC fell to the 7th place with 16 points (5th place DC United, 6th place Toronto FC and 8th place New England Revolution also have 16 points). Orlando City SC will now have a 3 week break and will come back June 18th to play against San Jose Earthquakes at Camping World Stadium after Copa America Centenario.
