Melbourne, FL- Orlando City B jumped out to a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd half, but came out on the loosing end to Louisville City FC in a 4-3 final.
In the first half of the game, Louisville City’s offense was putting a lot of pressure on OCB; it looked as if Louisville City was in control of the match. LCFC Forward Chandler Hoffman scored the first score of the match off an assist from Kyle Smith in the 12th minute.
Then things got a bit chippy. In the 15th minute, we saw our first yellow card, which was given to Louisville City Midfielder George Davis.
Orlando City was able to get their first score on the board as forward Hadji Barry provided a beautiful assist to Harrison Heath in the 29th minute to tie the game 1-1. The Goal for Heath was his first professional goal of his career.
OCB then saw their first yellow card in the 37th minute, being given to Defenseman Tyler Turner.
In the 39th minute of the game, Louisville City Midfielder George Davis received his 2nd yellow card of the match, which then gave him a red card and the ref helped him see his way off the field. This would give the Lions a one-man advantage for the rest of the match.
In the second half, Orlando City B started to catch fire when they took a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute. This one came off the foot of Hadji Barry.
As it got towards the middle of the half, Louisville City made their way back into the game when Defender Ben Newnam scored in the 62nd minute making it a tie.
As Orlando City tried to find a way to keep their opponent’s at bay, and take advantage of the man advantage, they continued to have missed opportunities. Louisville City was able to capitalize off of that and scored another quick goal in the 64th minute coming from Louisville City Midfielder Andrew Lubahn Giving them a 3-2 lead.
It looked as if Louisville City had taken over the game and was able to put more pressure on Orlando City defense. As Orlando was trying to make a comeback, a silly penalty just outside the box by the Lions set LCFC up with a free kick at the top of the circle. That’s when Louisville City Midfielder Aodhan Quinn drilled in the free kick in the 69th minute, which gave them a 4-2 lead.
The fight in Orlando City did not dwindle, though. In extra time, Forward Michael Cox drilled one in the back of the net to cut the lead to 4-3. Time expired shortly after as Orlando City fell short. Louisville City ends up winning the game 4-3 which put their record up to 8-1-3, and Orlando City falls to 4-6-2.
Orlando City B looks to regroup before their next match, which will against Charleston on the road. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm ET at MUSC Health Stadium.
