(Orlando, FL) The Orlando City B lost 3-1 after they faced Louisville City FC at their home stadium, the Orlando City Soccer Stadium. The Lions lost for a second consecutive time and threw away another chance of summing points.
The OCB disappointed fans with a poor performance which, even though improvement was seen in comparison with the match against the Rowdies, it was not enough to earn them any points Thursday. The fact that the team has not been able to score a goal this season makes fans raise eyebrows
On the dawn of the first half, in the 11th minute, Louisville forward Cameron Lancaster opened the score with a great mid-air shot from outside the box; netting the ball on the left-hand side of the Orlando City goalkeeper, Earl Edwards Jr, leaving him with nothing to do. Minutes after, Cameron was substituted by forward Luke Spencer.
At the 42nd minute, the tie came by the hand of one of Louisville City players. Defender Tarek Morad scored an own goal after Orlando City B midfielder, Austin Martz, sent a dangerous cross which Morad deflected to the wrong side. The ball ended up in the inside of Louisville City’s net, and the score was 1-1.
However, Louisville City was not dead yet and, in minute 56, they took the advantage again. Midfielder George Davis IV was in charge of scoring the second for the away team. The goal came as a result of a worthless error by OCB’s defense to clear the ball, which gave Davis IV the ball on the verge of the small area. He finished the play with a great shot that went in between Edwards Jr legs. The stadium was dead silent after Davis IV ran to the corner to celebrate his goal with his teammates.
Louisville City FC sentenced the match after their sub Spencer received a pass by midfielder Niall McCabe that filtered between the Lions’ backline. Spencer received the ball inside the box and with a cold-blooded head destroy OCB’s hope of a comeback. The ball went between Edwards’ legs; similar to the second one.
Although OCB lost the match with three goals against, it is to be mentioned the great performance of goalkeeper Edwards Jr. gave great interventions on the match. Specifically, one on minute 8 where he deflected with his right hand a header that was going to enter on his left-hand side. If it was not for him, OCB could have easily been scored five or six goals.
