(Oklahoma City, Okla). – Florida boasts a trio of first team selections and a third team honoree on this year’s NFCA All-American squads. Kelly Barnhill, Delanie Gourley and Amanda Lorenz each picked up first team accolades while Kayli Kvistad earned a spot on the third team.
This is the second consecutive year that the Gators have placed four on the NFCA All-American squad list and it is the first time since 2011 that the program has had three first team All-Americans. The 2011 first team ballot consisted of Megan Bush, Kelsey Bruder and Brittany Schutte.
This season, sophomores Barnhill and Lorenz earned first team status for the first time in their careers while Gourley made her second-straight appearance as a first team selection. Lorenz was a third team All-American as a freshman in 2016.
Kvistad, now a two-time All-American, was named to the second team in 2016.
Below is a full list of awards and highlights for each student-athlete from the 2017 season.
Walton’s Words
“It’s a pretty special day, especially when you’re honored as an All-American getting ready to play in your first College World Series game. So I’m really proud of our four All-Americans and I’m extremely proud of our players having a great season to this point, which allowed them the opportunity to be All-Americans.
“When we recruit, we talk to every potential student-athlete about one day winning a national championship, being an All-American and being an Academic All-American. So this is a special day for Gators softball players past, present and future.” – Tim Walton
