(Oklahoma City, Okla.) – Florida, the No. 1-seed at the Women’s College World Series, will take on No. 9 Texas A&M in the opening game at noon (ET) on ESPN.
The contest set to air live on ESPN with Adam Amin, Amanda Scarborough and Laura Rutledge commentating the game. Fan can listen along as well, with Daniele Gillman and Kelsey Horton on the call at WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM).
Florida (55-8) and Texas A&M (47-11) will square off for only the 17th time tomorrow with the Gators holding a 12-4 record in the all-time series. It’s also the second time the two programs have met at the Women’s College World Series.
In 2008, the Gators and the Aggies battled out a nine-inning game where Texas A&M prevailed 1-0 and eliminated Florida in the semifinal round of the WCWS. In the first matchup, the Gators bested the Aggies 6-1.
However, most recently Florida took the last series between the two 2-1 (14-3, 7-3, 4-6) in College Station, Texas.
Leading the charge for the Gators is the pitching trio of Kelly Barnhill (0.36 ERA), Delanie Gourley (0.67 ERA) and Aleshia Ocasio (1.13 ERA). All three rank inside the top 10 nationally in ERA. At the plate, look for Amanda Lorenz (.390) to continue her hot streak along with support from Kayli Kvistad (.387), Nicole DeWitt (.316) and Ocasio (.313).
Tori Vidales has posted a team-leading 17 home runs and ranks second with 46 RBIs. Riley Sartain leads the Aggies with a .354 average and 48 RBI and ranks second on the team with 12 home runs this season. In the circle, Texas A&M holds a 1.88 ERA, led by Trinity Harrington (1.71 ERA) and Samantha Show (2.01 ERA).
The winner of tomorrow’s contest will face the winner of No. 5 UCLA and No. 13 LSU.
