(Oklahoma City, OK) – USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, has announced that sophomore pitcher Kelly Barnhill is a Top 3 Finalist for the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.
Barnhill joins James Madison Univeristy’s Megan Good and Tennessee standout Meghan Gregg in the Top 3. The winner of the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award will be announced on May 30 at the team-only banquet just prior to the start of the NCAA WCWS.
Only one Gator has been named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Lauren Haeger received the award for her efforts during the 2015 season when the Gators made their back-to-back national championship run.

- Has 13 wins and nine shutouts over Top 25 opponents this season.
- Recorded scoreless inning streaks of 45.2 & 51.0 this season. Both are the longest amongst any current pitcher on Florida’s staff.
- Pitched a program single game record 10.1 innings and 21 strikeouts (10 looking) against Florida State (5/3/2017).
- Produced 16 games with 10 or more strikeouts and handed opponent season-highs to notable programs such as: Auburn (16), Georgia (14), Kentucky 2x (15), Ole Miss (16), Tennessee (12) and Florida State (21).
- First pitcher in Florida history to have earned five SEC Pitcher of the Week awards in the same season.
- Has struck out the side 44 times over 22 games.
- Has thrown four one-hitters this season. USF (2/12), Northwestern State (2/18), Long Beach State (3/2) and Oklahoma State (5/20).
- Currently leads the nation in ERA and strikeouts per seven innings.
- Has only allowed opponents to reach third base in 15 innings out of the 161.2 innings pitched this season.
