ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Predators and first year head coach Rob Keefe continued to bolster the defensive unit this week. The team has announced that defensive backs Abdul Kanneh and Dionte Dinkins have been assigned to the roster along with defensive lineman Louis Ellis.
Dionte Dinkins (6-1, 200, Fort Valley State) enters his second-year in the Arena Football League. Prior to joining the Orlando Predators, Dinkins spent his rookie season in the AFL with the San Jose SaberCats. The defensive back was also in mini-camp in 2012 with the Seattle Seahawks and spent part of the 2011 season as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Rams. While at Fort Valley State, Dinkins was a Second-Team All-SIAC honoree as a junior.
Abdul Kanneh (5-10, 180, New Mexico-Highlands University) is entering his rookie season in the AFL. Kanneh spent two seasons at New Mexico-Highlands University where he collected a total of 107 career tackles and 9 interceptions with 4 returned for touchdowns. Following his collegiate career, Kanneh spent time with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.
Louis Ellis (6-2, 320, Shaw University) was named Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association Defensive Player of the Year twice while at Shaw University. As a junior in 2007, Ellis recorded 75 tackles (50 solo), 24 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks and a forced fumble. During his 2008 season, he added 73 tackles (36 solo), 24 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Ellis also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and the Georgia Force who played their final season in the AFL in 2012.
