ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Predators have added wide receiver Gerald Young to the active roster, the franchise announced Tuesday. Young will be eligible to play in his first game this Friday, March 21st when the Predators take on the LA KISS at the CFE Arena.
Young (5-10, 170, Charleston Southern) earned an invitation to training camp after catching the eye of the coaching staff during the team’s February 1st open tryout. The impressive showing opened the door for Young, who continued to develop under Predators offensive coordinator Siaha Burley before being awarded a contract.
"Gerald brings dynamic athletic ability to our receiving corps," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "Through his work ethic on the field, he has earned the opportunity to represent the Orlando Predators. Gerald accepted the challenge of coming into training camp and competing for a spot on this roster. I commend him for rising to the occasion."
During his collegiate career at Charleston Southern University, Young developed a reputation for his big-play ability. The fleet-footed wide receiver shattered a school record by totaling 5,561 all-purpose yards. A three-time first-team All-Big South Conference selection, Young owns the top three spots on CSU's single-season record chart for all-purpose yardage and ranks second in school history with 2,096 career receiving yards.
