ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Predators have been assigned veteran DB Demetrice “Dee” Webb and rookie OL Bryan Collins, the Arena Football League announced Tuesday evening.
Collins (6-3, 305, Southern Methodist) played in 46 games during his four-year career at Southern Methodist University, earning Second-Team All-Conference USA honors during his senior season in 2012. He signed with the NFL’s Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2013, where he played alongside current Orlando Predators DE Earl Okine. Collins later joined the Green Bay Packers, where he spent the majority of the 2013 season on the team’s practice squad.
A native of Jacksonville, Webb (6-0, 200, Florida) was regarded as one of the top prep prospects in the country at Edward H. High School, where he was named The Florida Times-Union’s player of the year as a senior in 2002. He played collegiately at the University of Florida, serving as a starter for the Gators in each of his final two seasons.
Webb elected to forgo his senior season after earning First-Team All-SEC accolades as a junior in 2005. He was selected in the seventh round (236 overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he accumulated 17 tackles with one interception and one pass breakup. Webb signed with the Philadelphia Soul in 2008 and helped the franchise win ArenaBowl XXII while playing alongside current Predators head coach Rob Keefe, as well as DB Eddie Moten and WR Larry Brackins.
Following the League’s hiatus, Webb joined the Jacksonville Sharks in 2010 and delivered 59 tackles with 17 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. He entered the Canadian Football League in 2011, where he has spent the past four seasons playing for the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Calgary Stampeders.
The Orlando Predators return to action on Monday, July 7th on the road against the Philadelphia Soul. The matchup will be nationally broadcast live on ESPN2 with kickoff scheduled for8:00 p.m. EST.
