ORLANDO, FL – 2013 National Champion and current NFL prospect Kenny Shaw will be participating in the ceremonial coin toss on Thursday, April 8 at CFE Arena.
Shaw, who is expected to hear his name called in the 2014 NFL Draft, was the veteran leader of Florida State's receiving corps this season. The sure-handed receiver helped guide the Florida State Seminoles to their first National Championship since 1999.
During the 2013 season, Shaw was tied for second on Seminoles in receptions (54) and was third in receiving yards (933). The receiver also returned punts where he ranked sixth in the ACC with a 9.7 average. The do-it-all receiver ranked 10th in the ACC in receiving yards (66.6 per game) and was second on the team with 1,204 all-purpose yards.
Shaw was a four-star prospect coming out of Doctor Phillips High School in Orlando according to Rivals, which ranked him as the No. 14 receiver prospect in the country, the No. 6 prospect overall in Florida and the No. 42 player nationally. The receiver is currently training and preparing for the NFL in Orlando, and he could not be more excited to participate in the coin toss this Thursday. “It was an opportunity that I could not pass up no matter how busy my schedule is,” said Shaw. “Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and I took it as a blessing. This is my first Arena Football game and I am excited to see what the game is all about.”
