The NC State Wolfpack walked out of Tallahassee, Florida with a 27-21 victory over #12 Florida State on Saturday. This was the first road win over a ranked team for the Wolfpack since 2008. The Seminoles were playing their first game in 21 days due to Hurricane Irma. For the Seminoles, this is the first time in 28 years that they've lost their first two games in a season. It's also the first time since 2011 that they've dropped back-to-back games.
Junior quarterback Ryan Finley was 22 of 32 for 230 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Wolfpack win broke a 10-game losing streak to ranked teams with their last win over a Top 25 team coming against FSU in 2012. Late in the second quarter Finley connected on a 71-yard pass for a score to sophomore wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Meyers finished the day with five receptions for 112 yards and the touchdown catch.
Junior tight end Jaylen Samuels had a huge day scoring two touchdowns. The first score was a two-yard run in the first quarter. The second score came in the fourth quarter on a 14-yard pass. Samuels even completed a pass for 25 yards.
Junior running back Nyheim Hines lead the way in the ground game carrying 24 times for 94 yards for the Wolfpack (3-1, 1-0 ACC). N.C. State returns home next Saturday to face Syracuse. The Wolfpack have dominated the series as of late, winning nine of the past 10 including three straight.
