Since losing their third straight game to start off their Pac-12 campaign, Colorado’s adversity will be tested against Oregon State in a season salvaging game. The Oregon State Beavers have just one win in seven games so far and will definitely come out firing at home as they really have nothing else to lose. It’s a must win for CU if they want to keep their season alive so expect them to get the passing game going early and put up a high score.
The Buffs defense will be the main focus in this game, having given up 45 points last week and giving up the FBS for quarterback rushing yards by Arizona’s Khalil Tate who ran for a total of 327 yards.
Defensive Coordinator, D.J. Eliot said, “We have to get fired up, get our mindset back, go on another road game and try to get a W. It’s a big time week for us.”
A Buffs team that has gave up just two field goals in their first two games will surely regain form and prove to be a vital part of a victory.
If the defense can recover and learn from their mistakes, they can rely on the offense which has just started to click. Quarterback, Steven Montez, led CU to their highest scoring game of the season with 42 points.
A key spot in the CU offense will come from the highly anticipated trio in Bryce Bobo, Shay Fields, and Devin Ross. With just one touchdown in Pac-12 competitions this season, these guys will be vital to the passing game. We can expect running back Phillip Lindsay to keep getting his carries and yards, but the Buffs can find themselves in a lot of trouble if they aren’t able to establish a passing game against a Beaver’s defense that has given up an average of 45 points a game.
Each game becomes more important for the Buffs, who likely to need most if not all of their remaining games to take home a consecutive Pac-12 North Division Title. That will be quiet the feat as they have games against Washington State, Cal, and USC.
The game will begin at 2:00 p.m MST at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. It can also be heard on the KOA News Radio Network (850 AM/94.1 FM). You can also see it on the Pac-12 Network.
