(June 15, 2016) - Slovakia comes back from the defeat against Wales to beat Russia 2-1 with goals from Vladimir Weiss and Marek Hamsik. With this victory, Slovakia climbs to 2nd place of Group B momentarily waiting for the England vs. Wales game tomorrow, June 16.
Slovakia took control of most of the game creating several chances with a magnificent performance by Napoli's Marek Hamsik, being a constant danger for the Russians.
The first goal in the 31' minute of the game. Thanks, to an incredible individual play by Vladimir Weiss, who got a run on the left side of the field to get into the box took two players out and crossed the ball far to the other side scoring the first goal for the Slovakians. The second goal came just a few minutes away from a corner kick played short on Marek Hamsik, who went inside of the box taking one player out and shooting with much power from an incredible angle. Hamsik scored one of the best goals of the Euro so far giving Slovakia the 2-0 lead.
The Russians felt the pressure of the defeat and pushed forward during the second half. Getting one goal back in the 80' minute of the game thanks to a header by Glushakov, but it was not going to be enough and Slovakia won 2-1.
Slovakia will play their last game of the group stage against England next Monday, June 20, while Russia will play against Wales on the same day.
