(June 11, 2016) - Russia and England draw 1-1 in a game with a heated environment due to altercations between Russian and English fans before and after the match. With this draw, both teams get a point and stay behind Wales in the table of Group "B".
England played well with a possession base game with a holding midfield with Spurs' stars Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Manchester United Captain, Wayne Rooney. English coach, Roy Hodgson, bet with Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana in the wings to assist Harry Kane upfront. But the goal was going to come from a free kick in the 73rd minute; Eric Dier was going to power shot through Akinfeev's goal giving England the quick lead.
Russia played defensively waiting for England to make a mistake in the bottom line but that did not happen in the first half. In the second half, Russia played more offensively creating several chances with Dzyuba, Shatov, and Kokorin. But their goal was not going to come until the last play of the game with a free kick cross finding the captain Vasily Berezutsky, who was going to tie the game in the stoppage time for Russia, who gets a golden point against the most dangerous team in the group.
England will play against Wales next Thursday, June 16, the British derby that might settle the fate of both teams in the tournament while Russia will try to win against Slovakia the day before, June 15.
