(June 12, 2016) - Poland claims first Euro Finals win against the debutants, Northern Ireland, thanks to a goal by Ajax's Arkadiusz Milik in the 51st minute of the game. With this victory, Poland climbs to the 2nd place of the table only behind Germany, for goal difference.
The Polish team was expected to win with the great generation of players led by Bayern Munich's striker Robert Lewandowski, who had a discreet performance on this game. Poland dominated most of the game holding the ball in the midfield with Sevilla FC's Grzegorz Kychowiak. Created a lot of opportunities from the sides with Jakub Blaszczykowski and debutant Bartosz Kapustka.
The goal was going to come from Blaszczykowski side who found Milik alone on the box who defined calmly against Michael McGovern's goal. Milik could not do anything to stop the goal.
Poland will play next against the current leader of Group C Germany next Thursday, June 16, at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, while Northern Ireland will try recover from this defeat against Ukraine on the same day.
