TAMPA, Sept. 23, 2016 – The University of South Florida volleyball team (9-4, 0-1) starts the home portion of its American Athletic Conference schedule when the Bulls welcome the Memphis Tigers (8-4,0-0) on Sunday afternoon.
The team will also be holding a postgame clinic on Sunday for all children in middle school or younger. This is the first of four postgame clinics the USF coaching staff and players will lead this season.
The Bulls are a perfect 6-0 at home this year and have won seven consecutive home matches dating back to last season.
USF will look to rebound following a road loss at UCF on Wednesday evening. Junior setter Alex Mendoza (Minneola, Fla.) posted 19 assists and 12 digs in the defeat.
Mendoza was also named the offensive player of the week in The American on Monday. Her 11.2 assists per set is the best average in the conference.
THE OPPONENT
Memphis begins conference play at UCF on Friday before matching up against the Bulls on Sunday. After beginning the season 1-2, the Tigers have won seven of their last nine and enter the weekend with three consecutive victories. Caitlin Lilly has a team-best 2.90 kills per set and Regan Comperry boasts a team-high 9.11 assists per set. The Tigers are led by sixth-year head coach April Jauregui.
USF leads the all-time series with Memphis, 17-9. The Bulls won both meetings last season and own a 10-3 record in meetings at USF.
