AFL honors Storm receiver Joe Hills for his performance versus the Washington Valor
(Tampa Bay, FL.) – The Arena Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Joe Hills was named the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in week seven versus the Washington Valor.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hills (6-foot-4, 220 lbs., Tennessee State), for the second consecutive week, put on a stellar performance versus the Washington Valor. The Palmetto native caught 11 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns. He played a crucial role in the Storm’s final drive, catching the game-winning touchdown with just 3.6 seconds left in regulation. He now has a receiving touchdown in 74 consecutive games, four shy of tying Damian Harrell’s record (78).
The night also saw Hills log his 8,000th career receiving yard, moving him past Marcus Nash for 26th all-time in League History. Hills also has 657 career receptions and now ranks 25th all-time in League history.
An early Offensive Player of the Year candidate, Hills has 60 catches for 590 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. He currently leads the League in receptions (60), receiving yards (590), receiving touchdowns (18), receptions per game (10.0) and scoring (112).
This is Hills’ second weekly award and the seventh for the Storm. He is the first player to be named the Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks this season.
The Five-Time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm will enter its 30th season in the Arena Football League in 2017.
