Loudon, NH - Kyle Larson captured the victory in stage 1 of te Overton’s 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after almost an hour red flag due to a rain delay. Here’s how it all went down in stage 1 at the Magic Mile.
Kyle Busch Started on the pole and led the way as the green flag dropped. Then almost immediately after, Daniel Hemric in the #21 Blue Gate Bank Chevrolet got loose and went sideways as the cars entered turn 1. However, Hemric was able to save the car and get back in line.
On lap 2 Brad Keselowski in the #22 Discount Tire Ford overtook the lead as Busch dropped back to 3rd. Then on lap 7, Busch regained the lead after having a few laps that he looked a bit loose after losing the lead. Then Busch really got to work, by lap 16 he had put more than a second between him and Keselowski who was in 2nd.
That lead lasted until lap 27 when lapped traffic caused Busch’s lead to dwindle, allowing Keselowski to pass Kyle for the lead. Then on lap 30 our first caution of the race came out as David Star in the #99 Striping Technology Chevrolet got look an lost traction going into turn 1 as he slid up the track and into the wall. Then like clockwork, for the 3rd week in a row the rain came, putting the race under a red flag on lap 31 with Keselowski out in front.
After a 54 minute and 16 second delay due to the red flag, the track was dried off and the caution flag came out to get the race back underway. During the caution a slew of cars took pits and after stops, it was Justin Allgaier in the #7 BRANDT Chevrolet in the lead as the cars came to the green flag on lap 35.
That would only last 1 laps before Elliott Sadler took over the lead for the first time of the day. Then on lap 40, Kyle Larson took over the lead in the #42 ENEOS Chevrolet. Larson would hold off Ryan Preece in the #20 Mowhawk Northeast Inc. Toyota as well as Kyle Busch who finished stage 1 in 3rd.
