(Atlanta, GA) - The Atlanta Super Bowl LIII Host Committee today named Julia Karrenbauer, Vice President of Events and Sponsorship Activation and Lee Hendrickson, Vice President of Community Engagement and Volunteer Programs.
Karrenbauer was the Senior Director of Business Development at the Georgia World Congress Center Authority in charge of booking major ticketed events and sponsorship fulfillment since 2016. Prior to her ascension to Senior Director, she previously held the title of Director of Business Development/Event Development and was responsible for scheduling revenue-generated events at Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Dome and the GWCC, as well as overseeing all non-Falcons related suite sales at the Georgia Dome.
A native of Tampa, FL, Karrenbauer worked for AEG Presents, the second largest concert promoter in the world, out of Nashville, TN as Regional Director of Marketing before joining the GWCC in 2011. Karrenbauer holds three degrees from the University of Georgia, including a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Advertising and Communications/Marketing, as well as a Master of Arts in Mass Communication/Public Relations.
In her new role, Karrenbauer will oversee all city-wide planning related to the ancillary events such as Super Bowl Opening Night, NFL Live! and NFL Honors, as well as associated sponsor coordination in support of Super Bowl LIII.
Hendrickson comes to Host Committee after serving as Human Resources Business Partner for Athletics at Georgia Tech since 2014. In one of her instrumental roles at Georgia Tech, Hendrickson led a collaborative effort to develop and launch a comprehensive strategic plan to define a framework of goals supporting the newly-created core values and mission for the athletics program. Hendrickson also implemented a number of initiatives to enhance culture, engagement, and infrastructure for the athletics workforce.
Before her stint at Georgia Tech, the Sylvania, GA product was a Human Resources Specialist at the Atlanta Falcons, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and AMB Sports & Entertainment from 2010-14. She is an active member of the Atlanta chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, where she directed volunteer-led youth training events while serving as Special Youth Projects Chair from 2011-16. Hendrickson is a graduate of Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is scheduled to receive her Masters of Business Administration from Tech in 2019.
In Hendrickson’s new position, she will oversee the creation and operation of the 8,000-member volunteer program to serve the needs of Super Bowl LIII. She will also work with the NFL and various local agencies in the development of a Super Bowl legacy program that will make a positive, lasting impact in the City of Atlanta long after the game is over.
Karrenbauer and Hendrickson join the Super Bowl LIII Host Committee executive staff consisting of Executive Director, Carl Adkins, Chief Operating Officer, Brett Daniels, Vice President of Operations and Logistics, Amy Patterson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Frank Kleha, Assistant Director of Operations and Logistics, James Seagle, and Project Manager, Chincie Mouton.
