TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Coming off one of the best offensive careers in recent history for Florida State, Courtney Senas will be moving up to the professional ranks after signing with the PA Rebellion of the National Pro Fastpitch league on February 26.
“Courtney is an amazing person and player and a huge part of making this program what it is today,” said head coach Lonni Alameda. “She has worked so hard for this opportunity and I am excited to see her play at the next level.”
A two-time member of the All-ACC First Team, Senas finished her career with a .316 batting average, 36 home runs, 158 RBI and 180 runs scored. She had her best season in 2014 where she hit 15 home runs, 12 doubles, 57 RBI with 43 walks and 65 runs scored on her way to being named to the All-Southeast Region First Team.
Senas blasted one of the most memorable home runs in Florida State history with a walk-off two run home run in game three of the 2014 NCAA Super Regional against No. 13 Michigan to send the Seminoles to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2004.
She finished second all-time in FSU history in career home runs, third in RBI, fifth in runs scored, seventh in walks (98), seventh in doubles (37) and T-eighth in stolen bases (69).
“I am just blessed to have the opportunity to play on a team because not a lot of people have the chance to play professionally,” said Senas. “It makes me happy that they believe in me and my ability to perform. I’m ready to start playing softball again, and I’m excited because it will be against the best of the best.”
Senas joins former Seminole Briana Hamilton on the Rebellion for the 2015 season. Hamilton played through the remainder of the 2014 season after making her first appearance for the Rebellion on June 8.
