Rapper Eminem has recently come out with a new album entitled Marshall Mathers LP 2. Regardless of what the title of the album is it is not a sequel to his third album, Marshall Mathers LP, from the year 2000. The album Marshall Mathers LP sold more than 1.76 million copies in its first week, breaking records set by Snoop Lion "(Snoop Dogg) and Britney Spears.
In this new album, Eminem has tried something newthough he is still just as angry as when he first stepped on the scene. This album has a different sound that we are not used to hearing from Eminem. MarshallMathers LP 2 is filled with different backgrounds for influence. There is a country sound in his track “SoFar,” some rock-rap in “Berzerk,” and has different instruments that people don’t really expect to go with his voice or his flow. To hardcore Eminem fans, it is obvious that Dr.Dre did not have any influence in this album.
Luckily for Eminem, the album has produced four songs on the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chartincluding “The Monster” which features pop artist Rihanna, “Berzerk,” “Survival,” and “Rap God.” The album is expected to hit number one on Billboard’s 200 next week.
Eminem’s sound in this album is the strongest it has been in a while. Every once in a while you catch him being lazy and using basic puns just go along with the beat. However, there has been a lot of buzz about the song “Rap God.” In the last couple of bars in the song,he spits in a fast pace, and makes a statement making it clear that he is indeed at least one “rap god.”
