Ryan Blaney started off on the pole and led the field for the first lap of the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, quickly taking over the lead on lap 2 was last week's race winner Kevin Harvick.
After 30 laps, Aric Almirola was the biggest mover of the race, having improved to 15th from a 27th place start. Eight laps later we saw the first set of cars to pit road, as green flag pitstops went underway with Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano coming in.
During Harvick's pit stop, his pit crews' air gun malfunctioned, but they were able to overcome the issues without any major issues. On lap 50, Harvick made is way back into the lead, after Michael McDowell held it from electing not to pit during the first wave of cars.
With just 15 laps left in the 80 lap stage, there were just 15 cars left on the lead lap with Airc Almirola in that final 15th place. Harvick captured the stage win, with Truex Jr. in 2nd, Kyle Larson in 3rd, Blaney in 4th and Joey Logano rounding out the top 5.
