Wichita State would then start a string of three consecutive triples as they jumped enjoyed a marginal 12-6 lead over the Owls with 15:55 left in the 1st half.
Temple would cut the deficit to 1 quickly, before the Shockers went on a 9-2 run to take their largest lead of the first half at eight points, leading 21-13 with 11:00 left on the clock.
Fighting to keep their season alive, the Owls didn't fly away from this one. Over the next five minutes, Temple would work diligently to trim Wichita State's lead. With 6:36 left in the half, Ernest Aflakpui put in a layup to make it just a 1 point game.
Down the final stretch of the first half, the Shockers would extend their lead to six twice. However, they were unable to pull away as Temple stuck around. As the final buzzer sounded to end the first half, Landry Shamet hit a triple to give the Shockers a 42-36 lead.
