(Charlotte, NC) Duke took to the podium today to talk about the upcoming season, and what’s to look forward to coming up. Coach Cutcliffe was up first to talk about a season outlook, and how his player's cornerback Bryon Fields Jr., and quarterback Daniel Jones are with him today, and how they improved. When asked how things are looking going forward Head Coach “We have a squad that has the most depth, we have a few areas that need work, but this team has been exceptional since winter. We are all looking forward to opening the season.” Cutcliffe was pumped and excited talking about how well things have changed during the off season.
With Bryon, up to the podium first to answer questions from the audience. When talking about the secondary for the team, Bryon stated “For the secondary that we have now, the secondary is more talented than the group I came in. We matured a lot, and can’t wait till this season.” Byron gives a great outlook on the development of the team. Including new faces with freshman, and a redshirt class that will make one of the most solid senior classes once they make it there.

Star Quarter back Daniel Jones was up next to talk about how things will be for him this season. When talking about the outlook for this season, talking about respect, and what he plans to do as a team. He spoke saying “The biggest way to gain respect is win games, we are aware of that, and working towards it daily. I know we have a confident group of guys that are great and are pumped for the 2017 season.” He was humbled speaking about how the coach has driven him through the offseason, and all through last season being thrown into a team. With more confidence, he is going to be ready to lead this team for the next few seasons.
Head Coach David Cutcliffe came up to finish of the Press Conference. He answered a few questions which struck a chord with a few people. The quote that stuck out to everyone sitting in attendance was when he mentioned last year’s blunders. He spoke of the failure of last year saying “You could pick ten reasons things didn’t go well, and there would be legitimate reasons. But the biggest one of all, and I mean this sincerely, is that I didn’t have the team as ready as it needed to be.”
Things wrapped up from there with a bright outlook for this Duke team. With a flux of redshirt freshman, and a QB who is looking to become a household name. This season could be the turn around to get Duke back into the top tier bowl picture and go clinch the title.
