Event this Summer at Vibrant Opening Ceremonies
CHICAGO (May 19, 2016) - To kick off this summer's biggest sports event, the Opening Ceremonies for the 2016 Copa America Centenario will have no shortage of talent and excitement to create an unforgettable experience for all fans in attendance at Levi's Stadium® and watching around the world.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) announced today a star-studded line up for the Opening Ceremonies featuring this summer's hottest singles by musical performers.
The Opening Ceremonies, produced by accomplished ceremonies producers FiveCurrents, will take place on Friday, June 3 just prior to the first match, and will showcase the diversity and history of CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, the two Confederations uniting to produce the Copa America Centenario.
Musical performances will feature chart-topping Colombian reggaeton star and Latin Grammy Award winner J Balvin, known for his #1 hit "Ginza" and the just released "Bobo"; American platinum-selling recording artist Jason Derulo known for his single "If It Ain't Love"; and multiplatinum reggae fusion band MAGIC!, known for its hit singles "Rude" and most recently "Lay You Down Easy" featuring Sean Paul.
The high-energy performance will begin at 6 p.m. PT and make way for the official kickoff of the historic 100-year anniversary of Copa America between the host nation United States and Colombia at Levi's Stadium at 6:30 p.m. PT. The Opening Ceremonies and match will be televised live on FS1 and Univision.
Along with the opening match, other notable group matches include a rematch of the 2015 Copa America final between Argentina and Chile in Group D on June 6 (10 p.m. ET) and a second continental finals rematch when Jamaica and Mexico clash on June 9 (10 p.m. ET) in a replay of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
Copa America Centenario will feature some of the world's best teams and players from North, South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. Lionel Messi, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Luis Suarez, James Rodriguez, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey and many more are anticipated to take part in the tournament.
