TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired wide receiver and kick returner Kendrick Ings along with two-time ArenaBowl Champion Antron Dillon, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.
“Kendrick can have an impact on offense and special teams,” said Gooch. “He’s proven to be a tremendous athlete over the past two seasons. His experience in the CFL and the NFL has only improved his talent.”
Ings (5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Miller Grove H.S. (GA)) joins the Storm for his third season in the AFL. In 2016, he played in five games, reeling in 20 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. As a kick returner, Ings had 28 kickoff returns for 582 yards and a touchdown. In just five games, Ings became the team’s leading returner, averaging 116.4 kickoff return yards per game.
He began his Arena Football League career with the Storm in 2015 after attending a preseason open tryout. For his career, Ings has caught 88 passes for 1,240 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has 110 kickoff returns for 2,017 yards and four touchdowns.
The team also acquired two-time ArenaBowl defensive lineman Antron Dillon.
“Antron is an athletic defensive player that can create problems for opposing offenses,” said Gooch. “He has a high motor which is what we are looking for in a defensive player. We can’t wait to see him out there on the field.”
Dillon (6-foot-5, 270 lbs., North Alabama) joins the Storm for his seventh season in the Arena Football League. A six-year veteran, the Hammond, LA native spent the 2016 season with the Jacksonville Sharks.
A six-year veteran, Dillon began his AFL career with Arizona in 2012, earning two ArenaBowl Championships during his tenure with the Rattlers. He would go on to play for the Portland Thunder in 2014 and the L.A. KISS in 2015. For his career, Dillon has recorded 74.5 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 8 pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble.
Dillon played collegiately at North Alabama where he played defensive end and linebacker. During his time with the Lions, he tallied 62.0 tackles, 15 sacks, an interception, and he returned a fumble for a touchdown. A two-sport athlete, Dillon was also a four-year starter on the North Alabama basketball team.
