TAMPA BAY – On Sunday, December 15 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that the NFL-United Way public service ad from 1999 featuring Storm president Derrick Brooks, was voted as the favorite NFL-United Way PSA of all time.
“The United Way is an organization that believes in helping and giving back to the community,” said Brooks. “The NFL-United Way partnership is a great way to help teach children about the importance of health and education. I am honored to have my commercial chosen as the best of all time.”
Fans had the opportunity to vote Brooks’ commercial as the best of all time over a four-week period. The ad featured the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer, and 11-time Pro Bowler, leading a bus full of students in his “favorite” song containing the famous line, “Who’s my favorite player? Mr. Derrick Brooks.”
This NFL season marked the 40th Anniversary of the NFL-United Way partnership. To honor the 40 year relationship, thousands of fans were able to vote on the top 40 NFL-United Way PSAs of all time, with the top 10 being featured on NFL.com. Throughout the years, over 800 players, coaches and team officials have appeared in United Way ads.
