TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce its home schedule for the 2014 AFL season.
“The organization is excited to release its home schedule,” said Storm team president Derrick Brooks. “It has always been a goal of ours to be a franchise in which the fans and community can depend on. With this schedule we will be able to give the season ticket members and fans the best experience possible as we head towards another successful season.”
With an 18-game schedule the Storm will host nine games and play nine on the road. The team will kickoff the 2014 Arena Football League season at home against South Division rivals, the New Orleans VooDoo on Friday, March 14 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum and finish the regular season at home versus Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, July 26.
The team will play both home and away games versus division opponents, New Orleans, the Jacksonville Sharks, and the Orlando Predators, as well as American Conference rivals Cleveland and the Philadelphia Soul, and the Spokane Shock of the National Conference.
Tampa Bay will also host one of the AFL’s newest additions when the yet-to-be named Portland franchise comes to town on May 3. This will be the first time in Tampa Bay history hosting a team from the state of Oregon.
This season the Storm will play nine games on Friday evening. Of the nine Friday nightgames, three will be at home, while the other six will be on the road. Additionally each home game will kickoff at 7:30 PM.
Fans will be able to see the ‘War on I-4’ three times this coming season as the Storm hosts the Predators on March 29 and June 21, with the team headed to Orlando on April 19. For the first time in team history, the Storm will be facing Orlando three times in the regular season.
The Storm will also face the defending American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul three times, twice at home on April 4 andJune 6, and once on the road on May 17.
The Storm has two West Coast road trips as it visits the San Jose SaberCats and Spokane Shock. Tampa Bay played at both San Jose and Spokane last season. The team will also head to Des Moines, Iowa to play the Iowa Barnstormers for the second season in a row.
Tampa Bay will not face the Los Angeles Kiss, Pittsburgh Power, or the defending ArenaBowl Champion Arizona Rattlers in 2014.
