Bahia notched the first goal of the match off the foot of Ze Roberto in the second minute. Ten minutes later Orlando City SC’s Seb Hines tied the game up with a header off a Kaká set piece.
At the half, Orlando City was leading the battle in shots with 5, compared to Bahia’s 2. The true advantage could be seen for Orlando City with their 6 first half corners, with Bahia being awarded 0.
The Kaká to Hines connection heated up in the second half, with goals coming in the 58th and 71st minute. Seven minutes later Pedro Ribiero added another goal for Orlando City to make it 4-1.
Hines added his 4th and final goal of the night in the 86th minute off another Kaká corner. Like rapid fire, Darwin Ceren notched the Lion’s 6th goal of the night, as he pooched the ball over the keeper from about 15 yards out.
Orlando City finished the night with 13 shots, to just 4 from Bahia. The four goals from Hines mark the first time in Orlando City SC’s MLS history that a player has scored that many goals in a match.
“We played very well tonight. I’m happy with the result,” said City Head Coach Adrian Heath. “After the first goal conceded, we used that momentum to push ourselves to get a goal. We are right where we want to be for season. We are working on getting back on defense and getting better at keeping our formations.”
This was the final preseason game the club as they prepare to start the MLS season. The Lion’s will kick off their season on March 6th against Real Salt Lake. The match is set to kick off at 2pm EST, at the Citrus Bowl In downtown Orlando.
