The first half started off strong for Orlando City, having dominated mostly in possession. Kaka had two shots on target that were both blocked by Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush. Kaka’s energy did not die down; Kaka was able to make a brilliant pass to Matías Pérez García where García was able to finish on that play by putting the ball into the back of the net. Montreal defender Laurent Ciman began to get aggressive receiving a yellow card in the 17th minute of the match.
Orlando City’s defense started to break down late in the second half, and Montreal would answer on that. Montreal forward Ignacio Piatti would draw out Orlando City defenders allowing space in the center of the 18-yard box for a beautiful pass to midfielder Blerim Dzemaili to take a one touch right-footed shot that sailed right past Orlando City goalkeeper Joe Bendik. Blerim tied the match 1-1 in the 15th minute of the game, however, Orlando City could regroup. With Orlando City maintaining possession they were quickly able to answer back. Forward Giles Barnes send in a beautiful cross to García who then plays the ball to midfielder Will Johnson who takes a shot, but it is deflected by Bush straight into the feet of Orlando City Carlos Rivas who sends the ball zooming into the back of the net in the 22nd minute putting Orlando City up 2-1. Orlando City would maintain most of the possession throughout the rest of the half. The first half went into two minutes’ overtime where Montreal Impact midfielder Blerim Dzemaili was shown a yellow card to end the half.
Going into the second half, it seemed as if Orlando City’s momentum dropped. Montreal started with the ball and began their momentum right out of the gate, having their first shot of the half then quickly receiving their second yellow card. The Impact had three missed shots then the fourth was the money shot.
Montreal forward Ignacio Piatti was found open inside of the box allowing him to squeak the ball right past Bendik to tie the game up 2-2 in the 57the minute. Not even a minute later did Piatti find the ball again to score his second goal of the match putting Montreal up 3-2. Goals are generally not scored that quickly in soccer, but Orlando City just had a breakdown of communication and Piatti saw that and took full advantage of them putting Montreal up 3-2. Orlando City would regroup and pick themselves up battling to the final minute of the match.
The game began to get aggressive seeing 3 yellow cards in the second half 1 being from Montreal Lovitz, and two being from Orlando City Jose Aja and Garcia. Orlando City fans have a way of being able to pick up their team when they are down. That is just what they did tonight as the game became more aggressive so did the fans. When Garcia received his yellow card, the entire stadium began chanting against the call, which picked up the Lions and allowed them to fight until the bitter end. In the 89th minute, the ref called for 6 minutes of added time gave the Lions just enough time to make they come back, and that is exactly what they did. The fans got louder, and the Lions intensity picked up. In the 93rd minute, Lions were awarded a corner kick a corner kick that came to the rescue for both the team and Spector. Spector had a part in allowing Piatti to score both goals. However, all is well because as the ball soared through the air from Garcia’s corner kick, Spector saw his shining moment. Spector leaped off the ground connecting his head with the ball sending it into the back of the net in the 94th minute to tie the match up to 3-3. The Lions made a comeback and Spector made a comeback. However, head coach Jason Kreis said it is another night of “positives and negatives and still haven’t put together a complete match this season.”
